One long "24" hours

Well Rich is home for a few days and the kids are off school AGAIN! Friday and tomorrow are national holidays so the school systems figure why bring the kiddos back on Monday might as well have a 5 day long weekend. Remind me to send a thank you note….I feel the need to express my gratitude....hee! Actually it is really nice for all those taking a vacation but not us; we’ve been homeward bound. Suffice to say we’ve had a lot of family fun time (thus my blog absence)!

Friday we took the kids to an indoor “snow” slide to rid them of some energy. They had a ball and repeatedly recanted "how embarrassing mommy is"….all because I screamed like a baby going down the slide. Not like I was the only one ….okay so I was.

Well Friday’s “snow day” was foreshadow of a COLD weekend. We seemed to skip right over fall and dive into winter. Evenings and early mornings have been in the lower 40’s. Now remember that is without any central heat and brick/cement homes. Brrrrrr…..it is cold! I am tempted to pull out the bean soup again….hee.

The family fun days and wintry evenings have left the kids tuckered out giving me and Rich time to cuddle by the heater (oh, I long for a fire place). Wish I could say it has just been Rich and me but another man has come into the picture….a Mr. Jack Bauer.

Two months ago that name did not even ring a bell but lately we’ve spent many intense, rather emotional nights together. The sad thing is after 2 months we just finished Season 1. It has been one long ‘24 hours’! How many more Seasons to go?

In show reality it is only 6 full days but to finish them all for me will feel like a lifetime. Oh if I could go back and do it over again I never would have begun this adventure with good ole Jack; it is just too much for me!

Since the cold weather has just begun and I turn into a couch potato huddled by a heater, dressed like an eskimo, with hot drink in hand, I think my nights with Jack will continue. What have I gotten myself into.....please send help!

I LOVE that picture! Woohoo! Barefoot in the snow, eh?

Well, if it brings any consolation... the present season of 24 has not been raising my blood pressure or putting quite as much stress on my heart as some of the previous seasons. I miss the thrill, quite frankly. Maybe I'll get the first two seasons. I never saw those. Welcome to the 24 club!

I haven't seen "24" since it's very first episode, simply because it's on when Alex is still awake, and I don't have a way to record the show. It's the same thing with "Heroes." :-(

You're in trouble...those shows are addicting. But, I agree with Karen that the current season isn't so great. I think they ran out of ideas so started re-using the ones from all past seasons. So, enjoy them while they're still exciting. :)

Hello Michelle, I'm new to your site but I agree, 24 is addicting. However, I haven't watched this season at all. Last season kind of fizzled for me and my husband.

Looks like you all had a great family weekend. Enjoy your winter hibernation. :0)

I guess I should explain "the snow"....typical for SA- the place is called SnowScape and they boast a wintry wonderland. In actuality it was a huge slide of a wet carpet and once in the 1.5 hours we were there did a snow machine blow fake snow....it was also warm outside so warm inside too.

And they make you go without shoes which totally grosses me out but I had to get past it!

Great picture, just too cute!

Sorry, no help with the show. I never got into watching that one.

I know you won't believe this but I have never seen one episode of 24. I'm as shocked as anyone else. Am I missing something? If three people will tell me to rent the full first season I will do it. But they need to provide correlations between Jack Bower and Mitch Stout. Then I'll watch.

The photo is great!

And, welcome to the world of 24. The first few seasons are the best, so enjoy them. Most everyone except Jack gets killed off by this season, so we're all grieving fans. It's sad.

By the way, I'm changing my blog address:

Hey Michelle! Dumb question, are you guys just now going into winter? That is so weird as we are into spring full swing. I even had the kids in shorts and sandals the last 2 days. Looks like you guys had fun.

In Sioux Falls which is just about an hour and a half south of Watertown they have an outdoor sledding place. It is so nice because its not exercise at all. you get your tube and the pully system takes you to the top of the hill and then you slide down. It was really fun. I bet if you drag out the bean soup again, Skyler is going to beg to move to a tropical climate!!! ;)

That really is a cute picture! Sounds like an interesting place! :) Congratulations on joining the world of 24! Isn't it addicting? We haven't seen all of the seasons, but we are watching the current one.

Ugh... I don't envy you on 24. My wife and I watched Season 1. The problem is that on DVD you end up saying, oh, just one more episode, I can't let it end here! And 5 hours later you realize you have to get up in 5 hours!

Ah well. Hope you are doing well.

By the by, this is your second cousin... Suzan's son...

That indoor sledding looks like SO much fun!

Don't you just love 24! I think it's the best show on TV. Well, I'm actually torn between that and Grey's Anatomy. Have you heard of that one in S.A.?
