Hometown Excitement

We don’t get much American TV here. We have 3 channels and 1 of them is in Afrikaans. My ignorance in ‘what is hot’ on TV becomes more apparent when I read some of your blogs. It took me a while to decipher the reference to Jack Bauer….but don’t worry I figured out (my “in” husband keeps me up to date). One show I do know and I really miss is Extreme Home Makeovers. We got it here for a while. It was probably the first season and aired at 10:00 p.m. on Friday nights. That typically isn’t the best time for me but I didn’t care it always provided me with a nice good night cry!

Well the exciting news is EHM did their season finale home in Clifton Park, NY. It is the town next to Schenectady, NY where my husband grew up and his parents still live. (By the way, if you ever meet my husband ask him the best way to remember the pronunciation of Schenectady.)

The contractors that facilitated the building of the house are long time friends of the Franzens. They called my (single and available) brother in-law, Ronnie to help. He was assigned to work with Page on her room. He spent 2 days working on a bedroom with her. I think he enjoyed it!

Here are a few pics.

The Crew amidst the building (over 3,500 square feet)
Ronnie and Page...I chose the title, "Her Cup(s) Runneth Over " (sorry just could not resist)

A glimpse of the bedroom and Page

The finished product. Sounds really nice!

I asked Ronnie if he scored a date with Page and he just chuckled. Wouldn't that be great if they hooked up?! They could spend their honeymoon in SA....just think of the wonders they could do for my house. Not that this is about me at all....hee!
The 2 hour finale will air on May 20th. Watch and cry for me!

That is sooo cool! There was one other time on that show that I vacariously "knew" the family being helped. That was cool, too. We will try to watch!

I always say I hate that show, because I bawl EVERY time!!

I love that show too! :) I'll have to tivo it so we don't miss that one!

And to Heidi Jo,
You don't need a plastic surgeon, you just need to have another baby! Nursing provides full cups at least for a season! :)

EHM is a Gower family fav. We call it "The Blessing Show" because of they way it blesses a family in need each week. I even sent an email to ABC telling them how much we enjoyed it and thanking them for airing such a wonderful, giving, family friendly show!

I will be sure to tune in!!!

I showed Jenna this posted and she said, "Awww, I love Page, how cool."

Neat story and a fun show to watch. One of the other woman on the show (Constance) was a Christian and met her husband during filming. They fell in love and ended up married. See, it could have happened to Ronnie...

Hey--I have friends from Schenectady! A pastor in Clifton Park even. So, now I'm really curious about Rich's pronunciation key--hahaha.

Anyway, WE TOO enjoy EHM... and cry... (well, get teary-eyed anyway). It will be so much fun to see the May 20th episode. Maybe I'll let the tears flow freely just for you, Michelle!

That is one of the few shows that Robb and I religiously watch. What an awesome thing Ty and his crew provide for a needy family. Thanks for the heads up on the May 20th show.

I usually don't watch the show, but I will in May.

"Her cup(s)runneth over" -- funny.

I love that show!!! I try to watch it all the time - Grace and I love to watch it together. A lot of times Jason turns it because Grace and I always cry. My favorite part is when they go through the finished house - cry!!! Will's favorite is when they demolish the old house. I think it's a pretty good family show but it's on a little late for the kids. Now when we watch it I'll feel a little closer to you!

I forgot to tell you that this summer my local realtors organization is doing a Habitat for Humanity blitz build for a "challenged" married couple. This made me think of it. I can't wait!!!!
