…my husband married an awesome woman (and a humble one). Hee!

Being it is our wedding anniversary I started a jog down memory lane. A beautiful Saturday in March…okay I spare you and sprint to the finish! I thought about my wedding day. Where I absolutely despise my choice of fashion, colors and décor (in fact, I’ve purposely lost my wedding album so there would be no witness of my horrible fashion sense) I still love the man, the ceremony and the reception.

My nostalgic ‘jog’ to that wonderful dreamy day also revealed something quite alarming and that probably should not be admitted. Since I have already shown security in my self-esteem based on my opening statement I will go ahead and set myself up for ridicule and verbal bashing. My memory jaunt turned to my wedding party you know the one that is always filled with your life-long, best friends. Well let’s start with Sohailah, now I do keep in touch with her albeit via blogging. My friend Mary, we send each other Christmas cards and exchange emails twice a year. Then there is sister in-law, she is married to my brother so we keep in good contact. My best friend and college roommate for 4 years, we haven’t spoken I think since my wedding although I did send her a lovely wedding thank you for what I am sure must have been a vase. As for the other 3 involved, I am having a hard time even recollecting who they were. How horrible is that?

And the guys that stood by Rich on this special day, he has kept in good contact with every single one! Okay wait a minute, I am the social one and he is the introvert. Or perhaps I am the shallow one and he a good friend. Ugh…I will definitely need an extra dessert with dinner tonight!

So much for the beautiful tribute to my husband and our amazing last 13 years, eh? I did journal a prayer this morning along the lines of gratitude for those amazing 13 years. And to continue to become the wife, mother, friend, minister and daughter the Almighty intended me to be so the next 13 years supersede any and all expectation. That shows some growth in the shallow category hey?

Happy Anniversary to my wonderful hubby; love your shallow, humble yet honest wife, Shel!

Awwww! Congratulations! It sounds like you have a very sweet relationship! I love how honest you were in your post--I'll admit that I have lost contact with two of my four bridesmaids from my wedding too! My husband is still VERY close with all of his groomsmen, but of course he's related to all of them! :)

Hey!!! Wait a minute!!! You don't remember ME being in your wedding??? What gives Michelle? The dresses were orange with blue polkadots and the hair pieces you picked out were these white lacey-feather-headress-thingys that stuck up from the back of our heads.

Oh wait... maybe I dreamed that. Nevermind.

Happy anniversary!!!

(One of your photos has a first place vote. It's looking good so far. Woohoo)!

Hey, Happy Anniversary you guys. We got Skylers card and the kids thought that was so cool.
Love you all,

Happy Anniversary!! Neat story.
We had mostly our siblings in our wedding party. Isn't it sad how easy it is to fall out of touch with friends. I had 2) of my friends whom I keep in touch with occasionally.

Happy Anniversary love birds!

Don't beat yourself up about the wedding party stuff, it should just be a sign of how much you've grown since then. (does that help relieve the guilt?)

I have a great idea for Kool's next contest! Most hideous wedding photo's!!

Michelle, I'm shocked!!!! Your wedding dress was one of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen (as was the bride-the most beautiful) and I loved your colors and the fashion - shame on you. Hope you didn't really misplace or lose your album after all the money you spent on it. Hey, does this sound like a mother or what?
As to your wedding party - cheer up Michelle and welcome to life. Some of our wedding party are dead (does that console you any) and I must admit that two of the girls that stood up still send Christmas cards after 47 years but that's it.
Congratulations to Rich for keeping up with his buddies all these years. Keep it up.
Happy anniversary you two - we love you.

I thought it was a swell wedding! You were in white if I remember correctly and everybody else looked just fine even if I don't remember what color dresses they wore. That was the most difficult short, like ten mile walk down the isle I ever did - tears and all. What a blessing to have a guy like Rich marry my daughter. If it helps, I never heard from my best man and he is in heaven now. Two are my cousins that we e-mail back and forth, the other is my wife's brother-in-law that we see once a year and the last one I have never heard of since. Most important after 48 years I still have MM - and I don't mean the candy!

Aren't parents great...ever encouraging to their children although the "dead" remark is a little over the top but they are blood and I love them. :-)

I'm such a sap. I'm all teared up at what your dad wrote. What a guy! Maybe it's because we just married off our first daughter and Dave cried the whole day long.
Wow, 13 years! Wait until you hit 28..it will be our 28th next week, God willing. It only gets better Michelle!

Happy Anniversary! I think we all wish we could change at least one thing about our wedding. I would definitely go the more simple route if I had it to do over again. The important thing is that the groom would always be the same! :)
To answer your question about the Arnold connection, I am married to Robb, who is cousins with Rod and Janelle.

I remember your wedding! And the fact that Darren and I had our second date with you two at their apartment where Darren impressed me with his pasta dinner (which he still makes)!

Congratulations and blessings to you both and your family!!

I guess you now know we share the same special day...your anniversary and my birthday :) It's Jeremy and Lacy's anniversary, too. Do you know them? She was Dave H's assistant before my daughter, Alicia. It was their 2nd anniversary yesterday. He is battling cancer right now. Sweet, sweet couple. Lacy is Alicia's best friend.

Happy Anniversary!!

I still remember sitting next to you at PD training one year and you and Rich were engaged. You spent the whole training planning your wedding. That's when I knew you were definitely cool:-)

Saw you were curious to know who won the contest, hmmm. Is there a verse in the Bible about being humble? I'll have to check that one out for you. That's what good friends are for, right?

What can I say, I DID vote for you. I figured you poor little thing sitting all the way over there in SA. You really need that prize and Karen is so rich puttin' in that big beautiful new pool that she can afford to be sending you a nice, big package...so hey, you might as well win, right?

Congratulations! Way to go Pepper!
