Pop Quiz- Look at the picture and answer the questions that follow….
1) Did my dog’s wet paws make the dirt stains on this pair of jeans?2) Is my 13 year old nephew that is visiting getting reacquainted with the messy little boy he once was?
3) Were these jeans purchased this way?
If you said number 1 that was a very logical and probable choice however you are incorrect. My nephew’s mother might agree with you if you chose number 2 however it too is incorrect. Yes, believe it or not number 3 is the stammering, mind-boggling correct answer!
Matthew, my nephew from Rich’s side is here visiting along with his aunt, Rich’s youngest sister, Joy, age 19. I dropped them at the mall the other day as Matthew wanted Joy, “the Queen of Fashion” (his wording) to help him pick out some new duds. I picked them up 2 hours later and these interesting, apparently new fad, appalling, STAINED jeans came home with them. I realize I sound like my mother describing items of clothing I used to wear and the fact that this post highlights my out of touch fashion not to mention my age but help me here; Aren’t these a bit over the edge? I mean come on as if paying top dollar for holes in jeans wasn’t enough but now they are selling them with deliberate stains. In all fairness Tori walks around with stains on her jeans too but she is two; I think that is to be expected.
I am sure his parents will be proud of their hard earned money at work when he gets off the plane wearing these. Humm in fact they might rethink allowing any of Matt's siblings to come visit Uncle Rich and Aunt Michelle after this purchase (insert sarcastic tone).
Matt and Joy we love having you here; you both are spectacular but don’t feel you need to purchase clothing for any of my children while you are visting….hee!

aren't these the moments when you hear the words of your parents echoing in your head sayin' stuff like, "your sweatshirt is inside out." "no, mom- that's the style!"...or "those blue jeans are so fadded they look like someone's already washed them 100 times." "yeah mom, that's the point...stone washing?"...or "you just bought those shoes why is there writing all over the soles?" "um, it's cool."
maybe that was just me. funny.
You go girl - keep thinking like your Mom (smile). I hate this fad as well as the ones with holes. In fact I don't like a lot of the new styles the kids (teens - whatever) are wearing these days. Sound familiar Michelle?
Mom
When I was a jr and sr in high school, I went to a vocational school for training to be a cosmetologists. I would come home with some different looking hair... my mom always let me. first she figured she couldn't stop me. 2nd, she figured that since it would grow out, that in 20 years we would laugh.
as long as body parts are covered and underwear isn't showing, it's just a fad that we will all look back and laugh at!
And now that I am 40... we laugh at all the years of my "high fashion" hair and clothing.
Now tattoos, I KNEW better than to come home with something permanent!
Yup, they are just jeans.
Did I tell you Jenna got another piercing? She showed me and said, "You don't have to like it."
I DON'T like it!
Remember when you used to wear my long underwear to school(with other clothing, of course)? Never did figure that one out but then I'm just a dad! There were other things that I won't mention because I/you might be embarrassed!
dad
To "out there" for this grandmother!!

If this is what's out there now, can you imagine what our kids will come home with when they're teenagers? Scary thought! :)
Hahaha! I guessed #3 right away. That stuff doesn't bother me. Stained, holed up jeans. People don't seem to care around here. I don't like how my boys still wear their jeans down too slack and their boxes hang out the top... but like I said, it really doesn't bother me. I guess those are the things that I don't pay attention to very much. But you, my friend, totally crack me up!
I would have guessed it was your dogs paw prints too. Who would've thought that they would be purchased like that.
I am laughing because I feel the same way you do and I think we are aging ourselves! HAHAHAHA! :)
Heidi, I purposly waited to give a response to your comment as I knew one of my parents would bring up the long underwear thing and I did not want to steal their thunder.
:-)
Now of course I had ripped hospital scubs over them....hee!
Long underwear?
And I definitely thought those were paw prints!
"In all fairness Tori walks around with stains on her jeans too but she is two; I think that is to be expected."
BAHahahahahahahahaha....
I concur...
Sadly, we didn't get Skyler's birthday present to the PD's coming your way... hopefully we will be more on the ball with the next trip? OR, we will just have to mail it...
I was in American Eagle a few months ago and I couldn't even find a nice looking pair of jeans. They all look like they have been worn for 10 years and then put back on the shelf. I am definitely too old to be shopping there because I wanted my jeans to look new!
you do sound like your mother...
