Dog Pile

Originally, I wanted a photo with the precious little girl in the striped sweater pictured below. There were about 100 other African children around so we went off to the side. Spotting the action these girls jumped in for the shot.

After reviewing the photo we decided to try another one without the flash but it was too late. The "whities" were spotted doing something and soon children came from everywhere. It was like someone yelled, "dog pile", in Zulu of course. As you can see I am beginning to topple over.

If there were a third photo it would be of me on the ground and 100 children on top of me.

So much for being inconspicuous!

Sorry you had to get trampled to get the pics! :)

That's nice you let the other children be in the picture also. It probably made their day knowing someone cared enough to pay attention to them! Great pics!

You must find yourself hugging and loving on these children constantly. They are all so adorable.

It was definitely the best dog pile I've ever experienced.

Aren't they beautiful?! The girl in both photos with the brarrets is stunning!

It makes me sad, I want to come, too. The hunger is growing, Michelle.

I admit I haven't checked your blog in a while. But I'm back, Michelle. I've even written a couple new entries posts on my blog.

So I come for a quick visit to FranzenFam and I find see the one post that gets me all dang emotional. Photographing children in South Africa. I wouldn't let myself look too long at the two pictures because it became too personal. There is something uniquely individual about the expressions on their faces. We in the western world could learn so much from these little angels.

I want to come there - maybe I could teach in a school?

Oh, Michelle! I'm so glad the weather turned out better than the weatherman predicted - and - I'm so glad you shared those pics! EVERYONE of those children are so beautiful I almost cried! Looks to me like you don't mind that kind of dog-pile - you're in your element in those photos for sure!

Those girls are beautiful, Michelle. And, although you're whiter than white, your beauty fits right in with them all. I'm not a suck-up, but I agree with Gayla. Just as beautiful as ever, if not more so.
