African Delectables

Periodically I like to give a look into my ‘African’ world. Today, I thought I would give you a peek at our supermarkets. I detest grocery shopping because it is impossible to get everything on your shopping list at one store. Most often it is a 3 store deal before checking everything off. That is why the following photos in a very disturbing way bring me joy while shopping. These photos are not from a forever forward circulating the globe they were actually taken at a local supermarket. Warning if you have a weak stomach do not proceed any further..........

Hard to read but the label says "FAT"...yes this is a kilo of fat found in the fresh meat section. Ironically it was placed next to the lean meats.

And umm this one is self-explanatory….hey, at least it is fresh.

So if you ever have a chance to come for dinner I’ll be sure to give you a side of fat with your meal and fresh ass cake for dessert. Ah, only in Africa!

I expect to be greeted with fat and ass. How interesting you found those items the same day - they seem to go together :)

Can't wait...4 months away!!

You know I love cake and I don't really care what it's called. That really is hilarious!

I love it! Maybe if American's were more precise about their labeling so many of us wouldn't have "fat asses"!!

Oh my sorry for all the explitives in this post. I must admit these comments have me laughing.

It actually stands for 'assortment' of baked goods but the label guy either goofed or wanted to make for a good blog post.

The thought of eating fat makes me gag. We were served a chunk of fat one time in Costa Rica... I should have been "culturally sensitive" and ate it like it was chocolate but I'm pretty sure I hid it in my napkin and threw it away. Now ass cake is a totally different story!

That is awesome! Is it like one of those "better than sex" cakes except in SA they value the "ass" more? I don't think I've used so many 'explicts' in a post at one time. cool...

That first one almost made me lose my lunch!

I thought the bag of fat looked more like... I don't know... a bag of corn-beef hash, which would amount to about the same gross factor, in my opinion.

And Michelle, this post has been a really bad influence on a lot of people---all that swearing and such. *tsk tsk* ;-)

Hi Michelle! and hello to your man Rich. Miss you guys. I couldn't help but respond to Ass Cake. That sounds more like Rich than you... but Africa must be wearing off on you!
No baby yet! Can you believe we're 4 days overdue? You can read up on it on my blog... Miss you guys!

Hi Michelle,

For some reason, I feel I must apologize for the behavior of some of my new Blogger friends. Although, "a** cake. That's pretty funny..."

(I had been reading/commenting on Karen's post and Ginger referred us to yours.)

I'm glad you explained the "ass cake" because I read that one this morning and actually wondered about it all day! How strange is that?

I'm new to reading your blog, but it sure is entertaining!

I have had more 'new' commentors on this post than any other...just goes to show you all the 'closet cussers'. Come on ladies get your mind out of the gutter....hee!

Ginger I think we all might need some more prayer.

And I love that Just mom avoided 'the' spelling by putting astricks.

Don't worry I will be back to a cuss free blog soon!

Nothing like having a fresh slice of fat ass for dinner!

Looks like the one guy with the worst of all potty mouths just left the skankiest comment. Now no one will visit my blog, will they? If I've offended you please come over and visit The Adventures of Stolmit and leave a message for me. I promise my site is totally G-rated. The Franzens always bring out the worst in me.

I must say I am not shocked. :) We all know that all of us ORU alumns and TM alumns are all closet cussers!! :) I'm just waiting to see a comment show up from Ron. I once ate at Toni Fowlers and we laughed through the dinner because she served us "kick-ass-beans" - no lie! I think it was probably said about 100 times at the dinner table! Come to think of it, I'm going to email her and get the recipe so you can share it on your blog! :)

Ever had any Bad Ass coffee beans? I picked some up on one of my mission trips. Or maybe it was when we went to Hawaii... Anyway, just wanted to share that. (closet cussers--hahaha).

OK I'm sorry for my potty mouth! My hubby said I better clean it up or I won't get to blog anymore:) Besides I realized a)I shouldn't have volunteered Toni's name b)I totally got the name of the beans wrong. They were called "Coon's A** Beans" and the funny part was that they were called that because that's where they looked like they came from. You know you're blonde when 10 years later you still hadn't got the joke! I promise to clean up my act - the blonde part I can't do much about!
