Naptime Antics

Oh the things toddler’s find to do other than sleep during nap time.
Due to my various house guests Tori has been sleeping in my room. Overwhelmed with this new experience I guess she decided to explore. An hour into “nap” time I went to check on my little darling and this is what I found…….

My initial reaction clearly wasn’t the best as my husband, whom lucky for Tori happened to be home, came a running. At second glance, I must admit we turned our heads to hide our laughter. Just a note to those reading that have less than 3 children…With the first child things like this are dealt with very seriously and sternly, the second time you figure well I’ve been through this before by number 3 things like this actually cause you to laugh.

My only question is how do they find the one thing that happens to be the messiest, and the most expensive? It was my foundation, not like it is MAC but still it is expensive here and they are discontinuing this brand. Half the bottle covered her, my dresser, my duvet cover, the floor (still can’t get it out—Lizzy help!), and my pillows.

My husband's question, “So should I start cleaning up or do you want to snap a few pictures first?” He knows a good blog post when he sees it…hee!

Having raised 4 I know what you mean about the level of response lessening with each child :o)

Good for your husband!!! Both in coming at the beginning and knowing to call for the camera!!

Adorable picture. That is one she will treasure forever.

Ah yes, we started out with Lindsey writing on my mirrors with candles and ended with Jenna carving ALICIA's name in the wood in the dressers. I guess Jen figured we would punish Alicia even though it was Jen who was put down for the nap. That's what happens when you have a brillant child who can spell at the age of three. Oh my, that precious Tori, what's a mom to do. Keep the picture. When she is 18 like Jen you will laugh even harder than you are today.

oh gotta love that man. "should i start cleaning up..." what the heck? men can say that? didn't realize that.

i completely understand...you realize quickly, because you've seen it, that it could be MUCH worse:-)

How funny! Cooper use to take the petroleum jelly and spread it all over his dressers, clothes, toys. What a mess. I always used it for diaper rashes. It worked the best for him but he found other uses for it! Kids are so fun! You know, this last weekend we didn't have the kids and it was SO QUIET and almost boring. I did enjoy my quiet time but I don't know what I would do with my time if I didn't have them! Good job on the picture. You got the deer in the headlight look and everything!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Love it! Love Soh's comment as well. AND this is yet another reason I should not have a 3rd... I laughed at the FIRST! :-)

It is also much easier to laugh when it's OTHER peoples' children! Thanks for getting my morning off to a good start. : )

Glad you have a good third-child perspective. It certainly helps just to be able to laugh at these little trying situations.

Your story reminds me of a scrapbook magazine I used to read. In it they had an article, and I always remember it in moments like you've just written about. There's two little boys standing in a pure white living room covered, head to toe in mud. The caption read "Before you get mad, take a picture."

I always try to remember that, like the time I was taking a shower and looked out and Amanda had smeared my lipstick from ear to ear and nose to chin. I almost got mad, but then the giggles took over and I had to hurry and dry off to get my camera.

Now, I treasure that picture, after all it was just lipstick and the memory of that cute clown smile is priceless. You all will have a great time in the future looking back and laughing.

That is great! I love that your husband offered you the opportunity of a picture first--mine would have already had the rags out to start wiping up the mess!

We've had plenty of those situations too, but my boys prefer to take advantage of the times Mommy is in the shower--they know they have a few minutes before they can be discovered! :)

...and if you have a 4th... you end up with....ME! I was the youngest of 4 daughters... my parents just hoped I lived to be in my 20's so that I could leave as an adult. I think they regret their relaxed parenting on me now. They always tease Jack that there is a no return policy! Good thing I know my parents love me!!!

Thank goodness we have the blog to help keep our sanity! Knowing the situation would make a great blog post helps ease the frustrations! :)

This post made me laugh. We are expecting our first in Dec. and so many times I have heard people say with each child the things that were once important don't seem to be anymore.
