A Real Bush Experience
I've seen a lot of posts on camping and I always think to myself, "I'm glad it is not me." Well it is my turn; this time it was me. Here are a few shots of my Zambia Bush experience complete with squatty potties, tents, bucket showers and rather interesting cuisine.
I did not care for the "comforts" however I must say the work with the orphans was amazing and made roughing it all worthwhile.

Great pics, although the bathroom situation and the dinner are a little too real for me. Other than that looks like you all had a wonderful time.

okay, so this makes my 'roughing' it camping style look like luxery in the woods!
all joking aside, which i don't do very often...that moved me. something in the faces just speaks out so strongly to me...thanks for sharing!
Just curious--do the different color scarves on their head mean different tribes or different ages or what? I could never do that and therefore I am very moved that you and Sky could and DID!!!

The scarves represented different small groups and they were broken into groups by age. Skyler chose the light green group. Also kind of funny mention...after wearing the bandana she added it to her b-day wish list. Amazing how the "wish list" changes after being in the bush...perhaps we should take another trip right before Christmas. :-)

Awesome Michelle! I can't imagine doing this with one of my daughters. Our timing was not God's timing on this, but I'm so glad He has allowed you to experience this together.
Your daughter is priceless. I pray that this is just the beginning of God's hand upon her and His vision for her to reach out and be used in mighty ways. Your birthday post was touching and spoken like a real mom. Be proud...you have every right!

I wondered who might notice the fact that the 12 year old was as tall as my 8 year old. The case with many of the children....poor nutrition.
That brought tears to my eyes! When there was the picture of the camp, was there a fire in the background? I thought I saw black smoke. You and Sky are probably the best blessing those children will ever have. They will remember that moment years down the road. What a humbling experience and we should all be greatful for what we have!

The pictures made me feel as if I was there. I need to learn how you did that on your blog. Posting 10 pictures in one post is exhausting and takes too much time and space. You're "clever".
